About Aid2Day (Yes, We're Back)!

Aid2Day was first founded in July 2020 with a simple mission: to create awareness and raise funds for the fight against pediatric cancer. The realization that merely 4% of the 8 billion dollars devoted to cancer research and treatment is allocated to pediatric cancer when it is the leading cause of death by disease for all children in the United States motivated our founders, Heera Santhosh and Kavya Ambati, to start this organization with the intent of making a difference in even one child’s life. Although many scientific advancements have been made since 2020, the risk of pediatric cancer is still very prevalent, with one family having their world ripped apart due to a devastating diagnosis every 3 minutes1. Despite this heartbreaking statistic, hardly any organizations are devoted to this cause, instead focusing on the disease overall or cancers more commonly found in adults, such as breast or lung cancer. This is the reason why Aid2Day’s mission is critical to creating a world where children can finally receive the support they deserve.

From the very beginning, Aid2Day focused on spreading awareness through fundraisers. Within a few months, through simple concession stands, our two founders alone raised approximately $700 to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but Aid2Day only grew from there, with teenagers around the world recognizing the importance of our mission and stepping up to help make a difference. As our social media presence steadily grew to around 1,500 followers over three years, we built our dream team of 126 global active volunteers, and with their help, Aid2Day managed to raise more than $50,000 to donate to families suffering.

Besides just fundraising, Aid2Day is committed to helping better patients’ lives in any and every capacity, specifically through education and gifts, aiming to make a child smile and spark engagement in the community. This mission is primarily accomplished through our awareness campaigns, which involve creating a podcast and posting factoids all over our Instagram, and our annual gift drive during Christmas, where toys are delivered to children currently undergoing cancer treatment. Going one step further, Aid2Day has created virtual shadowing opportunities for our dedicated volunteers, as well as gift baskets for a handful of patients, such as Daria Gebbia, a high school student from New Jersey fighting osteosarcoma. These acts reflect the true spirit of the generosity that lies at the heart of Aid2Day.

We’re sorry if you missed us for the past year, but do not worry – Aid2Day is back and stronger than ever! With a brand new Board of Directors, each bringing experiences and perspectives that will further Aid2Day’s impact, we are ready to continue the fight against pediatric cancer with a renewed spirit. If any part of our mission has resonated with you, please consider joining to help create a difference! Our upcoming events include The Cure Code (a virtual escape room fundraiser), Operation UpLift (our personalized gift program), and the return of our annual holiday gift drive. Remember, pediatric cancer patients deserve better than 4% – they deserve the chance to live out their dreams. References
