Introduction:
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that there will be 1.9 million new cancer cases and 608,570 deaths due to cancer in the United States in 2021. This data report contains data visualizations that highlight the rates of different cancers for 100,000 people in numerous areas in Lake County, Illinois, to understand which cancers are more common compared to one another. Questions answered in this report include which area in Illinois had the highest cancer rate and therefore the highest risk and which specific cancer is most common among areas. Data can conclude that many places are experiencing higher rates of cancers, including colorectal, lung, prostate, urinary system, breast cancer. The rest of the report contains specific details of the data retrieved, organizing the information, comprehensive analysis, and conclusions.

Methods :
The information used to create these visualizations is from a csv with cancer data collected by Lake County Illinois. As for the data visualization/rapid processing tool, the Tableau application was used. The visualizations included a map that indicates the varying rates of cancer in different areas across the county, as well as visualizations separated by organ specific cancer.
Results :
The visualizations of the cancer data provide insight on the areas in Lake County Illinois that have been experiencing higher rates of Breast, Lung, Prostrate, and Urinary System cancer. Our findings indicate that Lake County Illinois would benefit from giving citizens near zip code 60069 more medical attention due to their highest cancer rate in all classifications.
Conclusions :
These results are relevant because they can allow for improved health care services to be directed to these critical areas, and lead to further cancer research on environmental impacts on cancer in high risk locations. With further study in areas with poor public health due to cancer, laws can be enacted to lower the percentage. For instance, lung cancer rates would plummet in Lake County Illinois, if stricter rules regarding tobacco consumption could be implemented.
