Plastic Event Report

The Collect Plastic, Protect Health Event was organized by the event coordination team to discuss the damage plastic does to our health. The event was held over a two week period and finished off with a fun zoom event. Over the two weeks participants were encouraged to collect as much plastic as they could so over zoom we could have a detailed discussion and ask many questions. During the zoom, we also had a short lesson, a fun kahoot, and a raffle at the end. Throughout this report you will get an idea of how the Collect Plastic, Protect Health Event went!

The outcome of the Collect Plastic, Protect Health Event:

A total of 6 people signed up for the event on the Registration Form. The outcome was as big as we had hoped but we were still able to have a fun time!

Each person who did was given the option to submit how much plastic they collected.

They both submitted the plastic they collected and it will go up on our website! They were allowed to write a short reflection as well.

The Winner:

During the zoom we played a fun game of kahoot, in which the winner would receive two extra raffle tickets. Aurora Califano got first place in the kahoot and as written got two extra tickets. Then during the raffle Aurora Califano was lucky enough to win again and receive a 5 dollar amazon gift card.

Aurora Califano was the winner of this event!

The Collect Plastic, Protect Health Event was an educational event that was executed well by the Events team. We put a lot of effort into perfecting this event and I enjoyed seeing people collect plastic. Compared to the Miles for Lives event I believe we could have attracted more participants or had a different approach to advertising but overall I was impressed by our presentation. We had an extremely meaningful discussion with the group about plastic and it was one of my favorite parts about the event. Overall, the event was a success but I believe we can do even better with our next one!

I think the event itself went smoothly. We all said our slides and we didn’t have any server technology issues. I believe we could have done better encouraging more people to attend the meeting. Maybe by having a bigger or better incentive to attend the meeting.
